I'll be putting the stock radio back in my '93 Pick Up, and am really confused about all the different Sat radios. I'd like to be able to cart it along with me, like the headset radio I listen to, and maybe pop it in a tabletop unit like the Ipods...

I'm going with Sirius because of NPR

Hi...I have XM satellite radio and you are able to get a sirius subscription added to it. The down side is you will despise regular radio for all it's advertisement if you ever turn it back on again.

You might as well go someplace like this.

You are going to have to figure out exactly what you want the radio to do. I have one of the older Roadies. I have a cradle/antenna/power connection installed permenantly in my car and truck.
Plus I have the boom box dock in my office.
I had the home theater cradle in the house, but there was always something on TV I wanted to watch.
You also need to figure out how to hook it up. Since the radio in my truck does not have inputs, and the one in my car is just too hard to get to, I use the built in FM modulator to transmit the signal to the regular radio.
If your radio supports inputs, then get one that uses them. Just be sure that everywhere you are going to use it does.

Go to that page and look at the different radio types.
The tricky one is portable. They have some that are pretty much like an Ipod or what have you, with battery pack, and an set of headphones which double as an antenna.
But the display size is limited on that one. And i am not sure how many different types of docking systems it supports.

If you can forgo the portable part, then you have quite a wide selection. Pick out one you like, and then see what accessaries are supported for it.
Remember, I don't think any of these have actual sound out. You will either have to use a set of headphones, or an amplifier of some kind.

I bought a simple one from a neighbor from CL tanite for $40. Hope it works, as I'm leaving for a big road trip Thurs, and don't have time to shop around. The ONLY thing I want to listen to is NPR, National Public Radio, as it's a pain to search for the local stations when you're on the road
