So im looking into getting my th400 built. What are some places or parts to look at for the strongest best performing stuff? Will a aftermarket valve body really enhance the performance? Since mine has stripped threads and helicoils....

Stripped threads and helicoils - maybe get a new case?

Is yours an HD type case?

No i don't believe so... I thought I could just replace the valve body.. So valve body bolts to the case?

are the case holes stripped? If so you could helicoil them as mentioned.
A full manual valve body will enhance the shifting immensly, but it is FULL Manual shifting, If your stopped and you put it in D, you will start out in D not 1st.
What year trans?
get rid of the stamped steel pistons, and get the cast aluminum ones, upgrade the rear bushing to a torrington bearing, 34 element direct drum sprag, heavy duty intermediate clutch pack snap ring...the one that goes in the case, and dual feed the direct drum....here are some upgrade tips:

That all sounds really expensive lol couple guys at work were telling me anout monster in a box transmission?

I'm not sure on the year of trans. I'll get some pics of it up once I get it out.
I remember reading about some negative stuff about monster. Was kinda hoping they got it figured out. But I'm hoping the trans shop I used for years (kens transmission in Phx,az) will do me right. The one time I didn't use them resulted in all the issue I had with the trans since I got it running. All because I wanted to save a few bucks. But not going to be the case this time. I'm willing to spend the extra money to know its right.

I have not had any problems with the guys a Monster. They where good over the phone at answering some technical questions I had about different kinds of lock-up clutch material, and a billit piston for my 4L80E torque converter, but I have only bought parts from them, and not had complete trans from them. It was the people at Performance transmission Parts (PATC), who where buttholes about answering any technical question about thier parts, so my business went to Monster. Sonnax is good company to do business with when purchasing trans parts. Many trans shops get their parts from them.

Not to derail, but are "shift kits" still a thing? Back when I got my TH400 rebuilt (around 95) it seemed like the thing to do. It's holding up fine, but I've got those jarring shifts.

Yes shift kits are still a thing but for the most part a trans go kit is all you need. No neck snapping shifts just firm them up a touch

The most important thing is to TRUST the shop you are using. No walking away thinking I hope they get it right this time. I don't know much, OK really anything about the internals but for me it was use heavy duty bearings. The stock setup used ones with 8 balls and we went to the ones that had 32 balls. Again lack of terminology there.

8 balls?
:)
You must mean the check balls in the vb
The 32 sounds like the sprag unit...a great upgrade!
