Well to start off, I recently have come upon a deal for a '84 K5 Blazer w/ a 6.2L diesel for $2500-$3000. I was wondering what y'all can tell me to look for problem wise, and even if its a good deal. I know the basics, CVs, oil, smoke. But did the '84s have any major problems I need to know about. It has 85,000 miles on the engine, which was replaced.

Thanks,

Trevor

The automatic transmissions aren't very reliable through that era.

There is no way that diesel should need to be rebuilt at 85K, that seems fishy to me (maintainance?)

$3K is expensive for a K5 of that vintage, IMO.

Look at the front hanger's on the rear leaf springs.I have seen them rotted out there from having collected mud.

Where are you in Tn?? I know of a blazer for sale that fits that description.

The afore mention things are important to look at,but if it turns out to be a old mil Blazer it will have a Th400.

I am near Chattanooga, I think its a manual im not sure, going to check it out tommrow. Its gunna be a daily driver hoepfully if its in good condition. So no major problems known in that year besides auto trannys. Yeah the rebuilt diesel sounded fishy to me, but who knows bad apple maybe..

If it's a 4 speed you need to make sure it will stay in gear. The 4 speeds have a tendencie to jump out of gear when they get some wear on em.

Well I am heading off to go look at it in the next couple hours.
