Just curious what you guys type in the search box on craigslist when you are looking for oversized tires? Ive looked a few times and it seems you gotta search a bunch of different keywords to find stuff? Anyone have any suggestions? I would be looking for a 38"ish tire.

Ya that's the problem. You just have to put in the brand and sift thru the titles. I always search super swamper, bfgs, bfgoodrich, toyo, nitto. If you search "off road" too much useless crap comes up.

swampers, boggers, TSL, My buddy found a set of 44s by typing in BIG TIRES

Key terms like this for sure, and What Deuling said...

I have found tons of tires just by searching a word like bogger or swamper, and those are certainly genre specific enough to filter out the crap

I always spell things right then wrong when looking for stuff on craigslist. Its amazing how many people can't spell what they want to sell.

You get WAY better deals on wenches in the auto parts section than you ever will on a winch.

Examples:

caddy | cadilac | cadillac trade
the "pipe" | is an "or" so ((caddy OR cadilac OR cadillac) AND trade)

the space is an AND

blazer k5 | big
(blazer AND (k5 OR BIG))

firebird | camaro | transam | "trans am" | z28 | camero
the quotes will give you a phrase
firebird OR camaro OR transam OR "(trans am)" OR z28

1978 | 1979 | 78 |79
Search for years

And yes as someone stated above, you have to search for mis-spelings.

Tires are very hard to search for by size.
38x12.50x16 or 38"x12.5x16"? No one does this the same.

tire | tires big
tire | tires
super | swamper tire | tires
bfgoodrich | goodrich | bf | michelin | mitchlin

etc etc

One more thing to think about, if you put in the work searching for all the versions of what you're looking for (38", mud tire, super swamper, etc. as mentioned) you can sometimes find ads that are misspelled or something similar. That means less exposure and a cheaper price for you :deal:

I dont do searches when I look for on craigslist. Maybe I have more time then everybody else but I usually check everyday for new listings and if the title says tires or chevy parts I usually look to see what they are selling.

People cant type, cant spell, or just dont know what they are talking about most of the time. I bought a nice set of 36" iroks this weekend 50% tread for $100. Ad said "36 swampr looks like thornbyrd" May have never found that in a search.

I've used a comination of what everyone else has said. One thing to add maybe is going to the auto parts sections and typing the diameter followed by an x, i.e. "38x" and doing that with the sizes that you are looking for. If you do it in the "all for sale/wanted section, you will have to weed through a lot of clothes.

Also, I've found tires that are worth something on vehicles listed for scrap or parts, so those may be worth looking at as well.
