Hey folks. Bought a 1980 2wd 3/4 ton long box step side for while I'm away working in Labrador. Lost the heater core and have no tools there. I fly back Wednesday and was gonna take the tools I need to do the job if I can figure out exactly what's needed. Can't take too much due to weight. Got my heater core packed ready to go with me. She has no ac. Is there anyway to do it without removing the inner fender? That one bolt will never go back in lol.

When I replaced my heater core recently, I mostly used a small 1/4 drive socket set. Both ASE and Metric. Deep sockets mostly. Also, flat blade and phillips head screw drivers. Going to need some light for crawling up under the dash. Some pliers like adjustable and wire cutters could be needed as well. That is about all I used to replace the heater core in my 1991 V3500 Crew cab

I didn't see it in the write up but I needed a 1/4 inch socket for the brace around the heater core that had two bolts. I borrowed one from work. Jobs done and I have heat. Woohoo!! The bolt in the left corner under the hood was a $&?! And the one on the bottom was worse. Dropped the inner fender a bit to help. Still a pain.

Now I have a trio pack of gauges to install next once I find the best spots to tap into. I'll search for a write up as well.
