i coulda swore up and down that had a th350 but ltely some people ve been telling me otherwise. it has over drive which would make it a 4 speed. does the th350 not have od? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

An '85 half-ton should have come with a 700R4. And no, the Turbo 350 doesn't have overdrive. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Yup, you've got the 700R4 - no doubt about it if it's got the O.D. 4th gear. The other two autos offered (TH350 in 1/2 tons and TH400 in 3/4 and 1 tons) have a final third ratio of 1:1. The O.D in the 700's is .70:1 by the way.
I suggest finding another tranny shop if the guys there said you have a TH350. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Unless it's been swapped out, but still has the 700R gear indicator in it. Can you actually shift into 4 different gears OD D 2 1?

yep the shape of the pan, th350 is really square, th400 is half square half goofy lookin and ive never seen a 700 pan.

700R4 pan is rectangular
TH400 is the goofy looking thing I can't describe
TH350 is a rectangle with the corner cut off

i went and looked and the pan looked kinda square. i also realized i have a rear main seal leak /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif. im pretty sure its a 700r4 though from what every body has said.
