What transfer case to get?

I have a 1990 K5 and I just found out my transfer case is cracked. I was looking at getting a used one for $150 from an 88 K5, but I didn't know if 90s differed from 88s or anything else. Is the transfer case a universal thing for anything with our bodystyle as long as we have the same tranny and engine?

What does a new one go for? Is $150 ok for a good working used one or is this too high? Is it easy to change as a driveshaft... I am sure it isn't but is it simple?

Let me know. My daily drivers ring and pinion just went out so I need to keep the K5 working!

Thanks.

I can't remember when the 208 stopped and the 241 started, but I want to say yours should be a 241 while the 88 may be a 208. They should interchange without issue, but you may want to check the spline count on the output of the new tc.
