Looks like I am going to have a student rebuild my 700r4 and transfer case. What is the best rebuilt kit to buy? The truck is a 1990 with fuel injection, a crate Ram Jet 350 with 350 horsepower. I don't really plan on towing with it... that's what killed the transmission last time.

Anything in Summit worth a look? I have no idea where to begin.

Thanks!

Ive heard the monster rebuild kits are grwat. Then go with a transgo reprogramming kit. I got stage 2 for a very crisp firm shirft. Stage 3 is a very slammin variation. It HITS every gear. :thumb:

After several failed attempts at finding someone reliable and not having it shift so drag race hard that the windshield feels like its going to shatter, i rebuild my 700 this spring. So far its great, i think i nailed it first time. Anyway i did alot of research and dont be fooled by all the huge boost valves and kevlar. It may be ok in drag cars but i have 2 melted 700s that tell me otherwise.

was the most complete and they had almost all the clearances already figured for the clutchpacks and even had the spacer already drilled out. I only have a few months on the z-pac but lots of truck people said theirs is holding up well.

TranStar has a Chicago branch that should be able to provide all the parts you will need for a good rebuild and at a good price. You don't need to get exotic, just some good quality componentry matched with a careful and experienced builder will get you what you need. The greatest attention should be on getting everything as clean as possible, making sure all mating, sealing, apply surfaces are flat and checking any and all bores, valves and reciprocating components for wear or damage.
