I was curious as to what the majority of people like? I'm not real big on the prerunner look.
What about a front winch platform and/or a receiver? Are front shackles a must? Tow hooks?

I'm digging around for some ideas to add onto my front brackets...

i like the prerunners, but some look a little goofy.. i love this one... done right, great lines.. full functionality..

was originally looking at 4x4 Iron's prerunner, but i like this better...

i'm a ways off from that tho. lift, 1 tons, and BTO 700r are ahead on the list. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

can't forsee a bender purchase for a year or so at least.. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I really like the clevises over tow hooks since there's no chance of a tow strap coming off, and it's easier pulling from wierd angles...but you already have a receiver so you just need a receiver shackle and your done... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jeremiah,

I would make your wrap around protection stick out more. No matter what you've got for a front bumper on a trail rig, I think the fact that it has to stick out past the sheetmetal a few inches is the most important.

Hit a few trees, then the fenders will be smashed in, and the protection will stick out a few more inches /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

If it sticks out too far it becomes a tree or rock anchor...

DP 90 hasn't made a bumper I didn't like yet. Man that guy is good with pipe and a welder... /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

I personally like the Pre-Runner style front bumper with a winch mount. Now for my opinion; It's your truck, go for what you like. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Here's mine...

I'm very happy with mine...sure it sticks out a bit...
but with my driving style..it's used to steer the rig in tite places..

At Wellsville...my buds with Jeeps commented how my bumper saved me..
Now they want'm!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like the hillbilly style 4" or 6" pipe tube bumper, looks kinda' ghetto but will not bend. I am going to use 2 military clevises , 2 tow hooks from the front of a 80,000 LB rated semi truck (these mount with three 3/4" bolts), and a receiver hitch for a multimount winch. I may weld end caps on it so it can be used as an air storage tank for on-board air. I never see rocks or trails, just mud so body protection is not an issue.

Thats what I was worried about most, if this thing caught a tree while I was backing up /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif Its mainly for if I come over a ridge and come down ontop of a tree or rock or turning in a creek bank. Only thing I was a little worried about with this bumper is no grill protection. Maybe I'll make a grill out of expanded steel like my buddy ryan did.

[/ QUOTE ]I agree 100%. I'll order one from DP if I ever get my bills caught up enough. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

DP built mine, and I think he did a great job. He got my 15000 lb winch mounted between the framerails, and it works great. Im not too computer saavy, so I cant post any pics, but he has some on his Off road fab website. The link is in his sig somewhere. Its the white blazer.

I would have to say that the tube prerunner style but not sticking out to far with a winch in the middle.
I am kinda biased tho because that is pretty much the only style most of us here like to build. when you have a bender you kinda forget about flat steel and plate steel its all about the tubing /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

im not saying there is anything wrong with any other type of custom bumpers.
