We need to fill some medium size holes in the lower fenders and the rails. I was thinking of finding some sheet metal and welding it in, then bondo over it. I have never welded before, although I did watch my Dad as a kid.

I need help: on the sheet metal, what should it be made of, where can I get it, and what thickness? On the welder, what type: mig, tig, other?

Thanks.

In terms of affordability, Arc Welders can take you far. Get some scrap metal and practice joining them. If your bead looks nice and ugly, nothing a die grinder can't fix.
