If it's a 4 bolt main it IS a 350. The only other SBC that ever came in a 4 bolt main was the 400.

For 95% of people...a 2 bolt block is just fine. It should be a good platform to start from. One piece rear seal and provision for a roller cam.

There is no way to tell if 2 or 4 bolt main without dropping the pan.

Like was said though it is a good platform to build from being that it will accept the factory hydraulic roller cams and is a 1 piece rear main seal engine.

so would i be able to attain 300hp with and engine build up keeping TBI?

Depending on how you build it yes. I built mine for torque but i'm also making 400hp at 3500rpm. Just remember that the tq/hp numbers are made in the cam and heads.

If it is a 2 bolt, convert it to the Milodon splayed 4 bolt cap conversion. Stronger than the factory 4 bolt and if you're having machine work done already, it isn't that much money in machine work. Mine came with the drill guides and all we had to do was tap and clean the block after line boring which had to be done anyways:wink1:

You will most likely find it is a 2 bolt main block which isn't a bad thing. If you don't plan to spin it to 7000 rpm's the 2 bolt will be fine. 99% of the time a 4 bolt block is not needed.

What he said.

Also for most people a 4 bolt main is nothing more than bragging rights. :D
