A little while ago wifey and I are sitting watching TV and we hear a loud thud thud. So we turn on all the outside flood lights and start looking around for targets, I mean animals or people and don't see anything.

She says why is there wood on your jimmy? :D

So I look and there are large parts of a tree on the top of it. Go outside and a 20 to 25 foot tree fell and hit the jimmy. Looks like gophers were busy around it and a gust of wind came up and blew it over.

The tree was only about 10 inch diameter and looks like it hit the spare tire, broke the tree and the top 5 feet or so along with branches landed on top of the jimmy. Put 4 holes in my soft top, which needed replaced anyway. It doesn't look like any body damage. So all in all not bad. I took a few pics and will post in a day or two.

Can't wait for pics, glad there isn't body damage! That would have been a shame, your truck is a beauty!

Last year I had a hunk of a tree branch about 2 feet long and 3" thick drop about 50 feet down onto the roof of my mom's '93 Caravan's roof--it sounded like a bomb went off!..took me a good 10 minutes to figure out what made the noise...the branch was from a cherry tree and that wood is heavy!..

I was surprised it didn't cave in the roof,or bust any of the side glass or tail gate glass..:eek1:..

Lately I'm wishing I had cleared all the trees away from my quonset hut when I built it in '92--now the trees, some tall thick cherry's that are now dead and growing mushrooms, and some maples that were maybe 20 feet tall and 6" in diameter back when I built it,are now 60+ feet tall and as thick as 15",and are only about 10 feet away from it...one of those blows over onto it,it'll flatten in like a pancake probably..:(...

Glad there was minimal damage to your truck...falling trees claim quite a few nice vehicles around here quite often...this reminds me I should park my Suburban on the other side of my driveway away from those trees I just mentioned, before it gets a busted window,or worse...:doah:
