a th350 or a 203 t-case ?

I am moving my th350/203 combo back about 3", enough to change my flex plate. I was trying to figure the best placement for the floor jack to balance the set.

t-350 is 150ish lbs..

i belive a 203 is close to 200lbs.

I know I can lift a t-350 and carry it hunched over but 203 kills me:crazy:

x2. a 203 is huge and cast iron while a th350 is aluminum. I can pick up and carry th350s all day long but the last time I picked up a 203 me and two buddies were struggling to move it.

Get a transmission jack

I would get one of these and put it near the crossmember and strap it down good>

I changed my flex plate with a 400/203 combo, pretty heavy. Just unbolt the tranny from the motor as a tranny/tc combo, position the jack on the range box of the 203 because that is where the weight is centered, then just slide the combo back 6" and bolt up the flexplate, then rebolt the tranny when your done, dont pull it completly out unless something is wrong with it.

this is exactly what i am doin. I was not going to take completely out unless something wnet wrong. I need about 4"-5" will get my ratchet in there. I am strapping the motor, then one rolling jack under tranny pan for safety and one rolling jack under the range ( suggested middle point ) box I have already unbolted everything just needed to make sure where to center things. I should be done today or tomorrow, depending on my other duties of being married and having kids

you need a jack under the motor as well, otherwise the dizzy will rest on the firewall when the motor leans back.

Just throw ya 2x4 under it and jack it up underneathe near the t-case. Thats what I did and it worked fine. I got a few special pieces of angle iron I throw accross the frame rails to hold e'm up.

I'm shocked the 205 weighs that. I can carry one, I cant crawl out from underneathe the truck with it on my chest and stand up yet though.
