Before we hit the road this weekend there are a few things I need to do on the truck, one of which is top off the fluid in the diffs.
What are you guys running?

I'm not sure if it makes a difference but it's my k3500...

I always have used 80W-90. But you may want to consider a synthetic gear oil of the same weight if you are going to be towing fairly often. It's a little more upfront, but I like the peace of mind it brings.

Mobil 1 synth gear lube. Works great and won't break the bank.

Thanks. I'll pick up some 80W-90 to top things off before our trip.

Once I have time to drain everything and put fresh gaskets on I'll go synthetic but for now this'll work.

Oh wait, you want to top it off?

Hell, I just run the cheapest for top off duties. Most any dino goo gear lube out there works...they just don't last as long. I have a 5 quart thing of Coastal brand sitting on the shelf for emergency fixes. Think it cost me less than two quarts of the Mobil 1 synthetic I have sitting next to it.

I told dad I needed to go grab some fluids after dinner and he asked what I was getting... aparently he had a little stockpile of stuff I didn't know about.
So anyways he had some that I can top it off with.
