Ok, what is the final crawl ratio for an SM465 (6.55 1st) with a 241 case (2.72 low) and 4:56 gears? /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

81.25 - not bad at all /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I've got something like 28. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Just multiply all the numbers together....or go to www.4lo.com

Oh and for some reason, sometimes the whole page wont load and ya may have to try again. And again. Sometimes it will fully load sometimes it wont. 99% of the time it will give all the low range info tho.

arrgh, If you dont have a P4 you may have to wait a while since it calculates every gear with tire sizes from 27"-44" and displays a range of speeds... takes a while on my P233MHz /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Worked great on my puter. Thanks for the link. I was able to figure out a few different things with it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Good link...but it has the wrong ratio for third gear in a SM465. The ratio is 1.70:1 not 1.57:1

Rene

yep thats better then mine, which is 52:1, but i guess it does me fine since i rarely ever use it unless im in a serious situation off-road going down or up a hill, pulling someone out of a hole, or in a vacant parking lot showing off infront of friends as i put it in low low and walk along side of the truck, gotta love the sm465 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.

MJ had a SM465 apart and counted teeth...the 465 is also 1.70:1 and always has been.

Rene

It's funny that so many publications and so called reliable sources have that bit of trivia wrong.

Rene

Hay now that's a neat calculator.
I always wondered what speed I was going when I was spinning 3200 RPM in 3rd /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif hehe didn't think old DOllar had 80mph in her LOL.

Does not add the 2:1 for the torque convertor though.
I added the convertor ratio and this is what I got.
Now.
First gear: 4.96 x T-case low: 4.1 x Differential: 4.56 = Final Drive: 92.73
With 5.13's.
First gear: 4.96 x T-case low: 4.1 x Differential: 5.13 = Final Drive: 104.32
With 5.13's and 2.75 first in the TH400.
First gear: 5.5 x T-case low: 4.1 x Differential: 5.13 = Final Drive: 115.68

I have a SM465 apart at a friends house...I'll do some counting and some math and let you know.

Rene

You should take the time to count gears now and then instead of blindly trusting everything you read.

low...............2nd....................3rd
input.....17.....input.......17........input....17
counter..40.....counter....40........counter..40
cluster...14.....cluster.....23........cluster..36
speed....39.....speed......35........speed....26

........6.5546...........3.5805.............1.699

Here is the post...

tooth counts for SM465

send me the fawking transmission and i'll be glad to /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Hey no offense but that is a tall order and I dont recall being on your payroll /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I do see a few posts in this thread claiming you know WTF you are talking about though.

rather then cop an attitude when you are corrected you should try something like 'thanks for showing me the FACTS tRusty, I was in error trusting other morons info.'

for what it is worth I sent the correct info to the Pirate site but they continue to list the wrong info.
their 'bible' is pretty useless if it is full of inaccuracies that they do not correct.

the thread that started me counting
