You'll be amazed at how fast you will burn through $10K.....trust me on that one! /forums/images/icons/blush.gif That number is way back in my rearview mirror already, and my truck is not even close to finished!!!!
It's the "little stuff" that will eat you alive....at least that's been my experience:
Example:
14BFF swap into rear. Got the axle for free so I'm doing great right? /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
Rebuild the hubs (bearings, races, etc.) $245
Detroit Locker $328
U-Bolt Reversal Kit $70
Steel for new spring perches $35
Derbinator brackets $100
New Calipers and rotors for disk brakes $92
1.5" Wheel spacers $200
TSM Flexible outer brake lines $50
Rancho 9012 Shocks $150
1-Ton Rear CV Driveshaft w/e-brake $967
Total cost for "free" axle swap: $2237 ! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif
It's not like EVERYTHING is that bad, but it would suck to borrow the $10K thinking that you are going to get everything you want, and then find out that you're only able to build it halfway.....then you have a loan to pay back to the bank, and no money left over each month to complete the project. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif
It might be better to just take it slowly and acquire the parts a little at a time as you save the money. It can be frustrating at times because not everything you'll need to buy is a "cool" part.... sometimes things like oil coolers, bushings, wires, brackets, etc. cost a lot, and you can hardly tell you've changed anything on the truck. There are a lot of "hidden" parts like that too.....
I hope this personal experience is useful input as you try to make your decision....!! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
