Transmission fluid puked out the dipstick tube and hit the manifold, or someone ran the fuel line up over the back of of the engine, carb? Fuel Injection?

On my 86, my engine backfired. Some flame game out the flapper valve on the exhaust manifold. Some of the old grease and oil on and around the motor caught fire..
Fortunately, I just left the grocery store. I grabbed a 2 liter of soda, shook it up and put the fire out.
