after reading about greg72's new 69k5 the question came to mind. what would you build ? GM only. if money wasn't an issue. I am stuck on 67-72 gm's,but have owned 2nd and 3rd gen gm's. i have spent countless$$$ on trucks and learned alot about what i wouldn't do again ,I am asking mostly about an all purpose truck you could drive on street and trail. what would you build?? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

72 K5 with a 454, sm465/NP-205, 14 bolt FF, and a Dana 60. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif That's what my 1st K5 was. I'm still kicking myself for ever selling it.

I would take a 73-91 blazer and do 6" susp lift, 2" body lift and trim fenders to get 37" boggers and 1 ton with ramjet 502 th400 atlas 2 t-case /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Kind of Torn. If I had a good 69-72 2wd It would end up being slammed a couple inches. LT1 or LS1 with 6 speed reguardless Might accept a OD auto. Front and rear roll bars.
73-75 I'm torn between slammed 2wd or a pre runner 2wd.
76-82 2wd balzer Pre runner for sure since I can't remove the top and to tell you the truth I think it makes the most sense for a DD and not remove the top on it. It would have A/C and power windows nice interrior. Serously concider doing a tube front to suport a update front end to loos so more weight. Same with if I pre runnered the 73-75.
I'm looking for a Daily driver that gets some MPG so don't want a 4wd. Need to park the Burb. It's not a real practical DD at 10mpg with the 454. I do want a quite ride, creature comforts as a DD. No muds, reasonable volume exhaust, good drivability and reliablity so stick with a stock GM power train. 79 or older so I don't have to deal with emmisions.

I'd build what I got. Cut off the bed, dove tail it. Chop the front fenders, tube it, add sheetmetal.

put a 3:1 NP203 range box in front of my doubler, and go to Johnson Valley for a week with Keith, Tony, Chris, and Ken. Ken will bring the Mobile City, and what ever doesn't break, gets to stay on the rig.

too bad i got other priorities right now /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Hmmm i think if money was no object id have so many different rides that it would be insane. id have a Huge warehouse to park them in and a huge shop for modifications a helipad w/ my own Loach and my house would be a nice little place out by a lake with huge tracks of land and trails everywhere. now i just need about 85 million dollars.

04' chevy 1 ton SRW crew cab long bed.
D70 motorhome front strait axle
pumped cat turbo diesel/allison
np200
14" all spring lift
39.5 boggers/16.5x14 weld typhoons
tinted windows
huge arc audio/JL audio system
hydralic steering
new escalade front clip(better than the avalanche clip)
maybe some flames over the factory red.

I'm with you!

What I'd like first is to take my '98 and swap in D60's front and rear. Warn 12K winch and bumper. 6" lift and BFG MT 35's. Kennesaw Mtn. rear bumber with a tire carrier for the spare, two jerry cans and the Hi Lift. MP3 player. Two Hella lights on the front, two on the rear roof.

Then, finish building the '73 K5 to similar specs, but it would be my rough-and-tumble rig.

Also, I'd love a '91 Burb and an '04 Burb set up along the same lines.

Where's my checkbook?..............Oh, yeah. I don't have any money /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ............yet! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

49" iroks and 52" michelins
custom 20" steel double beadlocks
full tube frame/cage 2-seater
40 gallon custom aluminum fuel cell
M15000 winchs front and rear
20 lb CO2 system
full gps/mp3/video/engine monitoring capable laptop

I would build a new Chevy 4500 Series Crew Cab with 4wd. (Yes it will be an option very soon) This will have the duramax/allison combo.

I would have the Suncoast Transmission installed (a very high-perf allison). Then I would upgrade the motor with a real good power-box.. Say about 500HP and 900ftlbs at the rear wheels. I would add dual stacks also.

I then would have a pickup bed installed to complete the factory look.

Going from there, I would have some nice 38" Michelin's XZL's installed on some cool wheels.. (Alcoa?) Factory 4.88 gears. LED lights all around.

Basically one helluva tow-vehicle/DD/I can run over you type of truck.

Plus anything else I can think of once I get it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
