I'm kinda at a loss here.... I recently took over responsibility of my dad's F-150 due to him no longer knowing how to drive, or that he even has a truck. I'm not sure what to do with it really.

It has no sentimental value, it's rusty as h3ll, needs steering work (just loose feeling), and the drivers seat leans back whenever it feels like it. But it does run n drive and 4x4 works..

Here's what I've come up with so far,
1. Give it to someone in the family - - BUT, no one that would need it has a license yet.. or the money to fix and insure it if they did.
2. Drive it like a derby car till it dies then scrap it.
3. Remove the box and body, build a cage, and make a low slung 4x4 bush hog beater mobile to take all the stress of daily life out in
4. Sell it for whatever I can get and put the money in my burb (my dad no longer has use for money and will be in a nursing home soon)
5. Take the F.I 5.8 out and find an older 2wd to put it in (60's era) and scrap the rest.

Ive been wanting to build a cheap bush beater, but wanted a smaller platform. And I'm hesitant to use my DOM for that.

Really not sure what I'd get if I sold it but I have a few ideas of where to put the money in the burb depending on how much I got.

And I found a 64 ford long bed fleetside that's in very good shape that I can trade a couple guns for or 1 and some cash... I even thought of a full body swap with that....

None of the ideas will take much money on my end and any one of em would give me something to do to take my mind off of the whole situation.

My vote is to build a trail rig. I bet you'd get more money for it if you decided to sell it later that way too.

Probably wouldn't gain much value... Lol. I'm kind of leaning towards not changing tire size, suspension, etc. It's end up looking like it belongs in Mad Max is what I'm thinking.

No money, backwoods hillbilly, tweaker type build

In all reality I don't even want to mess with it, but I have to get it out of my uncle's yard. And just to do that I'll have to get a good battery, do something with the steering, rig the seat, and then pray and cross fingers that it makes the nearly 2 hr drive to my place.

That's pretty much why I want to get some sort of fun out of it.
If I DID sell it, I may be able to get a pair of lunchbox type lockers for the burb  ...... Or a sf14b with disc brakes and a govloc. May even be able to find one with 4.11s and have enough left to get gears or an already 4.11 axle for the front.
I'm just not sure I could sell it for anything..... There's a few around here in the same era for 1200-1500 in a little better condition. I'm thinking I'd try for 1100 obo and let em take me to 800.

Around here that would be a $300 truck, if you're lucky.

Personally I'd just turn it into a cheap toy, carve the fenders out, stuff some big tires under it, weld the rear end, and point it towards the woods.

Wouldn't most ford guys have mostly ford stuff lol. Or at least better ford stuff than that truck has :)
Craigs list for trade (request GM specific).... either way, entertainment with strange offers or maybe a 300 part you could use/ take up less space

After I thought about selling it to upgrade my axles it dawned on me that there's a fully truck based salvage yard about 45min away..... Maybe I could work a trade deal with them...? I'm going to have to call them this week

States getting that. He's on full disability now, and medicaid. They said with his current lack of funds and assets all we had to do was prove he owed more than his house was worth and then he goes in and SS pays for it. Whatever SS doesn't cover the state gets somehow... Not sure if it's through medicaid or what..

If I have to pay for it he won't be going in the home. That sh1ts like $5k a month. That'd be every penny I bring home plus a few

He's only 58, so I gotta make sure I can even get him in. Some places have a 60 minimum age

Worse. Frontaltemporal dementia. Basically the same thing as mad cow or chronic wasting disease in deer..... Your brain quits eating an enzyme that your body produces, so it pools up and turns acidic and eats your brain tissue. 3 years ago he was driving a semi for a living. Now he don't know how he knows me, just that he does. And his best friend is the guy in the mirror. He can't remember that guy's name either, but knows it's his twin.

Is what it is now.... Really bothered me when he wasn't as bad, but I've gotten used to it now. Worst part is in lots of cases it turns out to be passed down :doah:... None of his family has ever had issues like it before him though, so I may be in the clear. But I won't know till the family starts saying I'm f**ked up I guess.

That's why I suggested using the truck to beat my stress away lol.... I need an outlet :burnout:

Put a cinder block on the gas pedal and ramp it off of the biggest thing you can find.

Being a Ford That's what it deserves lol. But there's no fun in that for me :)
