See, i has this 83 -->C<---10 ya know, and its one of the cleanest trucks your gonna find. But for some reason some buddy only ordered it with one solid axle
Already has a 700r4.
Tomorrow, im going to look at and possibly buy a 85 swb 4x4 frame that comes with 700r4/np208 d shafts and 3.73 rear gov bomb (sweet deal for 150). But i dont want a shortbed for my DD, so im thinking about taking the frame hangers off the shortbed frame (at least for the front) as well as the cross member and putting them on the 2wd frame i have now and making it a 4wheel drive.
But, i have read through the searches on here that the 4wd crossmembers will not fit a 2wd frame, is this true? Only downfall is i dont have the center high hump but that can be obtained.
Other option would be use the trans and t case with the trans cross member (well, does this fit the 2wd frame?) and use aftermarket provider for the spring mounts, motor cradle and such. I want it to be about 4" lift i figure, so id do a rear shackle flip anyway (and maybe consider 52's up front even though she is gonna be a daily). Although this has been covered many times, i dont know if anyone ever posted what they believe the best way to convert a 2wd truck to a 4wd would be, so i ask ye brothers, what would you do?
Pics for the lurkers. Just got my weather guard toolbox mounted up today from my old blue truck.
