What would you pay for a rebuilt 6.2?

Just curious, found a guy local that has 8 6.2's that his company rebuilt, rebuilt injection pumps, ran on the dyno, etc. Some have the J code intake, some have no intake. Hes wanting to sell me all of them (cant hurt to have a(nother) spare), I asked about price on one and he wanted $700, but was gonna ask what he would do if I bought all of em and then I could resell some to local guys. Just curious what anyone would pay for a rebuilt 6.2?

I paid $600 for a used one! Local companies sell them for around $4500 - $5000 here (which I think is INSANE!), but I would consider one for around $1500.

I rebuilt mine (didn't need any machine work, just a hone) for around $1200 including new rings, bearings, seals injectors and an IP.

you can usually buy big "lots" of them from Government Liquidation websites........get them from anywhere 100-500 a piece........most are rebuilds with alot of new parts on them and they are usually complete, you can find turbo 6.5's alot also......

there's a local guy on Craigslist who does J-code 6.2's every week... all he does is go through them with new gaskets, and maybe hone them if they need it, between $500 and $700... still too much for me right now though, for just a motor...

yeah he is buying the military motors and stripping them down......they get new pumps, lines, and water pumps......if it was me id get about 10 and use the best blocks, cranks, and pictons to build a few good ones, then a few ok ones, then what was left a couple POS's.....

I think I'm facing the possibility of needing a rebuild/replacement 6.2L

I checked at the local parts store... a long block kit is approx. $2500

I've seen a few used engines in the local listings... they are anywhere from $200-600.

So if I could get a rebuilt long block for anything around $1000 I'd be very happy!

I'm faced with doing a swap or sending my rig to the bone yard now.
