i know there is a year that 6.5 came with a mechanical fuel pump, so no harness is needed. from what i remember, it was 93 or 94? im thinking about building a mild 6.5, maybe tt, for my blazer. one that is completely mechanical would be soo much easier to build/swap :D

The 6.5 came out in '93. At the end of '94 they slapped an ECM on the side.

Easy? That's a relative term:rolleyes: I thought the same thing. Had to do some searching to find one but I did. The really stupid part? The fuel lines:eek1: I'm going with a Turbo on mine so it was suggested I get them as well. The lines have a slightly larger ID than the 6.2 lines but 6.2 lines will fit. When they went to an ECM they also went to a larger connector on the IP. So the correct lines are harder to find than the IP because most separate them and I guess toss the lines or sell them as 6.2 lines.

I would suggest trying to get the pump & lines at the same time. Oh yea, I thought about putting 6.2 connections on a set of 6.5 ECM lines but the length of the line has something to do with the pump timing of fuel delivery:(

The IP you are looking for is a model DB2831-4911. The last 4 numbers, 4911, have to do with how the pump is calibrated. Any DB2831 can be re-calibrated to 4911 but expect to pay about $200 to have it done. At that point consider getting a rebuilt one or having one rebuilt.

Another thing. Call it an Injection Pump or an IP. Maybe a Mechanical Injection Pump.:D Fuel Pumps can be found electric or mechanical. Sometimes called Primary and Secondary, or a lift pump. Can get confusing:bow:

sweet, thanks for the info. im looking to buy a complete running motor to drop in, and then tweek it as alittle at a time. also about the marine pump that is considered and upgrade for the truck 6.5, will it work on both mechanical and ecm pumps? i guess it doesnt matter what you have to start with since your replacing it, right? also, is the marine pump mechanical too?

What "Marine Pump?" If you are still talking about an IP, AFAIK, you get the marine version of a mechanical or ECM IP. It's not something separate you then mate with one or the other.

I don't know how much HP the stock IP will support. I do know the problem switches to exhaust temp though. Cranking up the fuel delivery of the IP will quickly burn up the engine in stock configuration. You have to start looking at intercoolers and such.

forgot to say, yes i meant IP. i know you dont join them together lol. but yeah, im definatly building it to take the boost. most likely ceremic marine pistons, marine pump, and a good intercooler setup with twin snails. an EGT monitor will deff be one of the most important things
