What year K5 to buy?

Ive only had pickups, no k5's. Hell my 3/4 ton 74 came with a 350/203. 1972, and 1980 are the years your looking for 350/205's, and they have different adapters as well.

I have a '73 K20 and a '74 K20 that were both th350/NP205, so I was kinda suprised to see all this crap about the autos having 203s.:dunno: Maybe it's just a Blazer thing, and I wouldn't understand.:D

I just posted that link b/c this thread pertained to K5's, i have little experience with pickups, so thanks for clarifying guys. learn something new everyday :D

Hey Big Blzn...I would like the 73'-75', but would not turn away from a nice 1st gen. I am seeing more of them on Craigslist actually. It sucks because most of the good deals are up in the Bay area for some reason? As to price range...the cheaper the better obviously but I do not want to spend more than $7K, which doesnt look like a problem. Seeing a lot in the $2K-$7K range. Thanks for the help.

After I sold my 70 I bought a 90 and did the convertible conversion, that way I got a clean fuel injected, air conditioned, cruise control, rust free truck, with a 32 spilne output SM465 mated up to 241.

The convertible conversions was sort of easy, easier than the 6 point cage but you will need parts from a 73-75 and I don't know if full soft tops are available new from anyone right now.

The 241 is an excellant T-Case but I already had a doubler so I put it in anyway, but I don't really see a down side to a 203 cause you are good to go for a doubler and you throw away the back of the 203 t-case for this anyway.

I absolutely love having the roof off and so do the kids. Good Luck
