i think i may have tracked down a decent blazer to buy. the guy said the rocker panals need to be replaced. and their is "some" rust. its a 76 4x4 and i can buy it for $2600 with the engine or $1700 without. he claims the drivetrain is in good condition. did this year come with the removable top? anyway, if i were to buy it i would buy it without the engine because i want a BB in her no matter what. also, someone might know this, with a 8" suspension lift, 3"body lift, and 40" tires where does that put the center of your headlights? i am hoping someone has something close to this to measure from. we have some pretty dumb height restrictions down here.

Honestly the price seems high, if the rockers need to be replaced and there is "some" rust, you are more then likely looking at at least some floor work and hard to say what else.

Yes the 76 has a removable top, it is the first year of the "half" top , think super short bed pickup when the tops off :D.

I say it sounds high because last summer before the economy started going to crap I bought my current project truck with a good running big block and basicly rust free for less then what he wants with out a engine. Mine also had a slew of new parts with reciepts and shipped to MD from TX I paid less then what he is asking.

I would keep looking, GM made a lot of these trucks ;) and if your willing to do some searching you can find a great deal especially now.

yeah i was thinking it was a little high for it. he is going to send me a bunch of pictures once it stops raining. its about 300 miles away from me so i want lots of pictures before i haul a trailer up there. but if its in decent condition i was thinking of offering him $1000 for it without engine.

I would get as many pics as possible, especially of the "regular rust" areas, rockers, floors, 1/4 panels, tail pan area, cab supports, inside rear bed supports. You know pretty much all over.
Good luck with it and if it dosen't look good just pass on it, you will find another one. :D

yeah if he doesnt produce good pictures then the deal will be off. because then i will think he is hiding something. im still looking its just the first lead i came accros within a 500mile radius

Mine needs the rockers replaced and has "some" rust. The rockers are completly gone (it looks like someone cut out just the rockers). The rest of the rust is above the wheel arches and where the tail gate hinges mount. Nothing too hard to fix. The floor is still solid..as are the suuoprts infront of the rear tires.

I paid $1500 for mine 4 years ago. It had a blown motor and a transmission on it's way out.

$2600 seems real high to me too. If it had zero rust...then maybe, but not if it needs body work.

well he sealed the deal for me. he keeps sending me pictures on the phone. they are tiny how can i tell detail from that. so i ask him to e-mail me more detailed pictures, he tells me to come see it in person. i say its 300miles away i am not going out there unless i am sure i am going to buy it. he says then i guess you wont be buying it...what a salesmen huh?

what a deuche.haha.it sounds like a bad deal rto me anyway.for 2 grand you should get a nice running truck.if its got a lil rust fine.and running great then go for it.i wouldnt waste any more time or money.texas always has a lot of good rust free trucks coming from there.look around.it wont be hard to find a good deal.
