Whatcha Think?

DD? check the usual rust spots and ther mileage on the engine. rebiuld 700r4 is good. np241 correct. that may be a good deal depending on rust/mileage. i heard on a nice runin motor, 14mpg. but id say anywhere 10-14.

if you get it rip that stupid ass grill guard off

Ya me too.
I put this one on my truck. I was gonna make it into a full one, but When I finaly get a winch its gotta come off. Hidden winch it has to come off, trailer hitch up front with a mount for a winch, has to come off. And if i so a custom bumper, well pretty self explainitory. cause it bolts to the bottom of the frame rail. I dont even think its for a 73-80 I made it work with some DOM tubing spacers I made.

You can kinda see what I am talkin about in this picture.

Ya I need a DD and If I could i would prefer a truck. Based on the pics it dont look as bad as many of the trucks ive looked at for that price. I suppose if I keep it stockish it would be a good daily driver, maybe a set of headers.

What needs to come off is those rust causing steps. (cant tell but it kinda looks like there on there.

the guard you got on your blazer isnt bad, and i love the pushbars i got on mine. but i whole "face" guard i hate on chevys. I think some look good on fords but as far as chevys no. And for my truck i wouldnt even do yours. I like the grill and itr blocks it. I would only do the cucv one with the camo, which i like. I meant no offense just my opinion.

Be careful with those steps, could very well be there because the rockers rotted. Which wouldnt be the worst thing. My rockers are gone. Id just worry more about the floors and tailpan as well as the general body rust. That wheelwell didnt look the best but hey its all what you use it for. I guess for a dd/beater some rust isnt bad.

Well anyone in the rust belt will tell ya it aint that bad.

For some reason here when we get 2 inches of snow they put down enough salt for 3 feet.:doah:

Here is some comparison. the guy was askin a grand, a friend of mine whoes a friend of his told me he got $700. It had a good running 350 and a 4 speed and a 205

That looks like a pretty decent k5 especially for being located in our area. I would be interested in buying it if I wasnt a few weeks from ordering a doubler kit. As noted above check the floors really well! Rock the seats back and forth to see if the seat mounting points are rotted. Also lift up the rear carpet to see the condition of the rear floor area. As long as that stuff isnt terrible and it runs and drives pretty good I'd offer $1,200 and go from there. I paid $800 for my 89, it had really, really rusty floors and rockers. but only had 90k miles and it still runs great!

even if it was in exelent condition i wouldnt pay more than $1500

just to make me seem like an expert i should drive my blazer down there, and be like "ya I built this" lol

ha! well if the engine was rebuilt too and the rust was nil id say 1800 fine. but yeah 1500 seems like a good deal, less of course the more rust it has

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/car/561616401.html

well what ya guys think, worth takin a look at? its probaly only a 15 min drive.

That would have a 700r4 and a NP241 case correct?

and just a estimate, would you the gas milage probaly be on something like that?

I wouldn't trust a "rebuilt" 700R4 as far as I could throw it into the junkyard. Honestly, I would have more faith in an original 700R4 with 80k on it than a "rebuilt" one. The GM reman'd ones seem to have the best reputation, independant/chain shops have really bad reputations for dealing with 700R4's (they're apparently a lot harder than a TH350/400 to rebuild correctly)

Ya I am really funny about rebuilt transmissions and t-cases. Another barging point I guess. we will see I am gonna go check everything out on saturday.

i had that exact bumper at 40 mph hit a 2001 4 dor gran sum'n prix 4 door? dk.....i wonder if i can get original police report...anywho...ripped 1/4 of the car ...OFF...spun her axel 180*...stickin out other side totaled and it only bent my the sheetmetal 1/2 in couple of pieces looked ok..sprang out..missing passenger side vert rubber..my loss $12 theres was 12,500$

from the pics it looks like a good deal, I would try to talk him down 1500 . I would listen to the motor, put it in drive, and reverse, make sure there no crazy noises. Take it for a ride if posibble get it to highway speeds. check if the rear window goes down, open the tailgate. take your time and look at everything. good luck

Ya, the biggest worry is gonna be the rockers cause of the steps on it.
and then the "rebuilt" 700r4

i'm sorry that truck pictured would be picked and salvaged...way to far gone!

I told the guy I would give him $400 for it. cause I could get about $350 in scrap, and I could of pulled the drivetrain. hell I think a 4 speed in the K5 would kick ass.
