I have 89 k5 with a straight body and zero rust. ( California truck)
the paint it shot as it seems they all are if original
the interior is also shot
So figure the doors are worth something ( power windows not mirrors ) ??
Fenders ???
Hood?
Roof ( not sure if there would be much call for it )
Tailgate that i assume would be worth something
It has a new trans but selling it used i would guess only get few hundred
can't imagine the motor is worth much
maybe the transfer case but then again
it has a clean title and runs
or i could paint it and put in new interior and have way more money in it then its worth :)

so if anyone has real world ideas about what the parts are worth i would like to know

Thanks

Clean, straight, no rust, new trans, runs good...am I missing something? Add some new seats and some elbow grease inside, then drive it, wheel it, or sell it to someone that wants it if you don't. I don't see that as a parts truck at all...

Thats the thing its not worth much here as is. Maybe $2-3k
i would think i would get more in parts but i might be wrong. also i have no idea how well it runs. it was a trade deal. he said they just put in the trans and parked it.

If i painted it put in new interior i figure that would be at least $5k and thats probably what i could sell it for so that doesn't make much sense.

Spend $5K to sell for $5K...bad math.
Spend $500 plus elbow grease and sell for $3500 or so. Make $3K

Paint is a waste, and if a cheap job is done is a detriment to selling it as it appears you're hiding poor body work, or trying to pretty it up to sell, which you would be.

Make sure it starts and runs good and that the tranny is actually good. Give it a thorough once over on fluids and grease. Junkyard seats, and a good cleaning and move it down the road.

Drive it out here and get 5 grand easy,if its really rust free, runs OK,and has a clean title...trucks like that are extremely rare here, and the few that you do see, were brought here from other states out west..
I'm sure any other rust belt state is pretty much the same..

Ditto; If there is no rust and the body is straight and runs then you can ask 5K and get at least 3.5K(but likely more) here on the east coast.

The very truck i'm driving has no rust but originally came from a southern state with no snow.....or salt.

If the truck isn't worth much complete, the parts aren't worth much either.

I've parted a couple cars/trucks out, you always end up with the largest, hardest to get rid of pieces, that people back east actually want...like the shell.

Better to sell complete. Hassle of getting rid of leftover parts, and dealing with people that want doors for $5, and cut the wiring harness when you aren't looking to pull the steering column, just isn't worth it.
