I have an 87 K5 with 6.2 D 4x4 and looking for a lift. I picked up a dana 44 for the front and a full float 14 bolt for the rear. Someone listed a "1985 chevy k20 truck parting out." I called him and he says its a 3/4 ton looks to have a 4" lift. He is keeping the engine, front and rear diffs, and rims. He said he would sell me just the lift on it. Whats a good price to offer? Pretty much whole lift front springs, shackle flip, steering misc, etc? Also would it fit? Thanks

It will fit but it depends on what type of lift it is.

Could be nice springs, could be ancient ranchos that ride worse than a buckboard wagon.

More info is needed

dam your probably right. Thanks for the input i appreciate it.
So blazinzuk what would you go with for 4" front springs, skyjacker, pro comp, or rancho? Not looking for a cadillac ride just something for a budget that can handle that heavy diesel motor.

Tuff Country HD springs for fairly inexpensive "off the shelf" lift springs.

Call ORD, they'll set you up right.

Inexpensive? your kidding right.. I ordered a pair through ORD (recently) and it was 430 w/shipping. I was told i needed a heavier handling spring so i opted for the hd 4" tuff country. Supposedly they were on back order and got my money back but not without alot of bs. Funny thing is since it was on back order I was offered, by ORD, a skyjacker and possibly a rancho instead since they are supposed to be stiffer and in turn would make up for the heavier weight im carrying with the diesel motor.
OK so if i can order a ranch ($140) or a skyjacker ($169) then why would i need to spend more than double the money for a tuff country spring. I don't need a sweet soft ride, im driving a blazer not a cadillac. And what about the difference in price. Doesn't make sense to me. And i really do appreciate the advice on this forum but if the whole purpose of "CK5" is for a few companies to promote their 200% mark up on their products, then whats the point? Take advantage of people like me who are ignorant of offroad products? And if my theory is true then lets see how fast this post gets deleted or i get banned. But in all truth i really hope im wrong about this forum.

The prices you quoted for Rancho and Skyjacker springs are per spring, so a pair is twice that much.

When you're comparing price, make sure you're comparing apples to apples, just because it's a 4" spring doesn't make it the same as another 4" spring. We've had great luck with Tuff Country springs (US made) and have been using them as our primary spring for better than a decade. They're the best ride and best quality you'll get out of an off-the-shelf spring.

I wasn't directly in on it but it sounded like Stephen offered you some other options because it sounded like timing was an issue, I believe we could've had you a set of Pro Comp springs (a bit cheaper than the Tuff Country's) the next business day, shipped from CA. The Rancho and Skyjacker springs were an option too, but not our first choice.

The Rancho springs would hold the weight fine but are ridiculously stiff, those and Rough Country are by far the stiffest lift spring you can buy for the old Chevy's.
