can it come from any 76' and older d44 or does it have to come from a general motors vehicle with a d44?

Jeep, GM, IH, Dodge and Ford I do believe all have them. But not to sure what all with interchange.

I have pulled them off of early 70s (70-72) gm and dodges, they should all be 6 bold standard spicer pattern

You can spend a ****load and get partsmike new castings which are cast with some thoughtful mods already .

You can also spend a minor ****load and get Dedenbear or Crane brand new castings . Thankfully the aftermarket caught up to the market . We don't have to find them from a finite source anymore :thumb:

Any other tips on locating the elusive D44 flat top? Good junk yards seem to be few and far between.

I've read somewhere that balljoints don't keep up with highsteer.

I had hi-steer on my old suburban and it had a 3/4otn D44 and never had any issues with ball joint failure and it was like that for 4 yrs until I sold it with the same ball joints
