A friend has a 89 3/4 burb complete without engine. (did they make a 1 ton burb?). It has a rebuilt tranny from GM. It looks like a 14 bolt and what ever mates to it on the front. What is it worth? what gears would it have? What is the tranny? Would it be a good swap for my 71 blazer project? It has TBI 350, 700r4 and 205 with stock axles. Planning to run 35s on 16x10 wheels.:D:D

That's what I'm doing to mine. Took them out of a 73 Burb, though. Mine has 4:10's and the front axle is a D-44. They would make great axles for your conversion, but I am planning to find a D-60 to replace the D-44. If you are going to do the swap, I would go with the 14 bolt from the Burb, but look for a decent D-60. You'll want to do it eventually, just like I do. Only thing you really need to do is grind the perches and shock mounts off the new rear axle because all that will change. Front will bolt right up. Running 35s, How about a lift? Easy to set the pinion angles when rewelding the perches, if you lift it. I lifted mine 6" and had to lengthen the front driveshaft a couple of inches. I'm putting on a disc convertion on the rear axle, as well.
But, to answer your question. I paid $500 for both axles.

Forgot to mention that you will need a conversion ujoint to mate the rear driveshaft to the 14 bolt yoke.......you can get those at most parts stores. Forgot what I used. 1430, 1310???????

Thanks, I can get the rolling body with transmission and transfer case for around 500 bucks. anyone know what the transmission and tfer case are?

I sold a 14 bolt and a dana 44 w/detroit locker matching 4.10's for 450 off craigslist...

hope that helps.

An 89 3/4 ton burb is either going to have a 700R4 or a TH400 trans and an NP241 t-case. The rear axle is most likely a 4.10 geared 14SF axle. Look at the trans pan and if it is the shape of Texas then it is a TH400.

You could find a 14bolt from a 1 ton. It has the same spring spacing, so you wont have to move the spring pads.
Worked out good with my D70HD:D
