i can purchase a 1980 suburban with an 8 lug 44/14 bolt combo for pretty cheap. i really only need the motor and trans so ill end up selling the axles. just looking for some ideas on what they are worth. thanks

Depends on the gearing....4.10's will get you about $300-$400 for the pair where if they are 3.08's....not much.
i paid $300 for a 44/14b combo ('76). d44 had the weak external hubs, but had flat top knuckles.

The external hubs are NOT weak, people just don't know how to keep the bolts from backing out. Don't use bolts to hold the hubs on, use a stud kit with pinch nuts and never have a problem with them.
