Whats different about a R/V30 then a C/K30?

So I'm new here to this site but have been around chevys most of my life but I'm trying to find info on R30's and v30's. I've seen trucks with these badges but I don't know what makes them any different from a c/k30 truck. If any body could help or shead some light on this for me I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to due my homework on crewcabs because I'd like to buy one as a tow rig once I have enough coin to buy one. And thats how this all came about.

R-V series are the "old" (1973-87) body style that, for some trucks, continued for 1988-1991. See

To further confuse the issue, lots of folks call the 1988-91 trucks C- or K- series 'cuz they don't know better; those designations refer to the "new" body style, with independent front suspension, in those years.
