What\'s everyone think Tahoe or my K5?

My next-door neighbors fiend is in love with my blazer and is getting a Tahoe in a month or two from his folks, and wants to know if I would be willing to trade. Since I don’t go off road that much I’m considering it. His Mom is getting a new car soon and he is getting her grocery wagon. From what I know about the Tahoe is it’s a 98, white exterior, gray interior, full power, 5.7, auto, clean, his folks live in Temcula, CA..
What do you guy’s think, trade/don’t trade?

It may be more economical ... maybe . You'd miss the k5 though I'm sure. You need to keep it , get gray carpet and let me pick up that tan carpet /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Since the Tahoe is worth more than your K5 do the deal and than build another K5. My $.02

You're talkin' two completely different animals. I own both a '99 Tahoe and a '72 K5. I just got the K5 after several years of loving the Tahoe on road and near heart attacks off road. The Tahoe will do pretty well on logging roads, forest trails, dirt roads etc., but is is by no means true 4x4. And keep in mind that those little tree bumps will eat your lunch in repair bills on the Tahoe. Just the running boards on mine are $400 per side.

Is the tahoe two door or four door? Two door has a shorter wheelbase and does decent off road. Four doors are ok but are a little too long for my blood.

I say trade for the Tahoe. Pretty much any Tahoe with be worth more than any K5, so you come out ahead and the other guy get's screwed. If he was smart he would sell the tahoe and build his own K5...

That sure is a beautiful K5, I look at it this way...everyone is driving tahoes nowadays, they are a dime a dozen. But a clean looking K5 like yours sticks out of the norm you see on the road. It feels good to have a big truck where people are like "Cool, look at that big blazer! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" Nobody would look twice at a tahoe. I say keep the K5 /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ] To much money...... never added it all up.... but there has been three engines in it while I've owned it(10+ years since I've got her) ..... on it's second tranny & t-case, Well over $10k.... Tahoe is around $13k to $17k.

You can't look at much money you have INVESTED in your truck, you have to look at what you can get for it since you'll never be able to recoup all the money you spend on it. I vote to get the Tahoe, I highly doubt someone would pay 13-17k for a K5....

With a great looking truck like that, you've probably got so much time and money wrapped up in it that it would stupid to sell it. I say keep it; its a classic.

Do you love your K5 from an emotional standpoint?
yes=keep it

Are you looking for a more family friendly, long freeway trip rig?
yes=make the trade

Looking for an excuse to build a new K5?
yes=trade, sell the tahoe (12K or so) and get another K5 and go to town /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I tell ya practicality and the wife have made me consider selling my K5 a number of time... SOOOOO glad i havent done it, i dont think i could recover emotionally

if the K5 runs well (judging by the picture, im guessing it runs beautifully), keep it. i would much rather have a K5 like that than my 97 yukon. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
