Much cancer found as I started to get my K ready to go.

What is the piece of metal called where the front seat belts attach to on the side, where they anchor in?

I didn't see that area at LMC, either. Do I have to cut a piece and do it myself?

Thanks in advance, folks.

Never paid all that much attention to that myself. But it has to be part of, or attached to a solid part of the body.

If things are that rusty in that area, I suspect you are going to have to fab something.
You might want to come off the frame with something.

Do you mean the A-pillar? If I understand you correctly? The piece of body that is between the front and rear doors? At least that's what I call it on my suburban.

Actually, it's the "B" pillar. The "A" pillar is the on that runs up along side the windshield.

The front seatbelt anchors are on the lower part of the "B" pillar.

the b is the short ones? the long ones are the a? Never was a body guy, just assumed that it went in alphabetical order. That's what I get when I assume!

both of mine rotted out. and i just replaced it with thicker than OEM metal and made sure to weld it very well. then put a big washer on the backside of it incase i actually had to use it with some force pulling on it.

I thought of doing some thicker metal there, too. I have some work there to do, so I'll have to see what it looks like when I'm done with all the rest of the stuff there.

A thicker piece of steel sounds good: will that and a bolt be strong enough for the seat belts? Anyone here done it?

And...anyone with any pics?

Thanks again in advance!

A pillar is the one by the windshield, B pillar behind the door, and so on towards the back of the vehicle. Suburbans, say, have A B C D, by that standard, the D being the vertical part around the rear window.

This all assumes we're talking about the shoulder belt though, and the OP sounded like he was talking about the lap belt... ?

Nope: B pillar, where the belt anchors against the body.

Well, the "pillar" usually refers to the vertical part by the glass; anything lower than the windows is under the "beltline."

Anyway, I'm now even more confused as I dunno if you mean the truck's body or yours :haha:

Are we talking about the top, shoulder part of the seatbelt, or the lower lap part of the seatbelt?

The lower part is the floorpan, different between Blazers and pickups, but available from e.g. LMC, etc, but the upper part is trickier. Donno I've seen much rust that high up though!

I'm speaking about near the floor where the lower belt anchor is. I guess it's the lap anchor, but since I haven't opened up the top, I don;t know what the term for either might be, like if one is the primary and the other is the secondary.

The bolt where the belt attaches is fine. Appears so. But with some minor tugging, I can see where it attaches to the floor appears bad, and definitely appears to be rusted behind this piece. I can't see at LMC or anywhere else that this piece of metal has a name.

the lapbelt portion in blazers is at the bottom of the b, and over on the floor... the bottom b part is unavailable, but a super easy patch... go a little heavier than usually, like 16, with a BIG fender washer, or 1/8 backing plate and nut welded for the seatbelt... super common spot...

if it's the upper, junk the rig...
