My customer came back with his 88 K30 camper. A/C compressor locked up and it has some profound leaks from the trans and t-case. There's going to be some cost involved to go after all the stuff and he's rightfully unsure of spending any heavy money on it as he's thinking it's not worth much. I'm pretty sure he's wrong on the value as he was kicking around $1500 with me on the phone.
I assured him it's worth well more than that. Problem is I'm not sure how much it's worth. I'm guessing in the 8-10k realm.
Here's the specs- 2 owner 1988 K30 regular cab dually. Under 100k for mileage (legit based on the rest of the truck). 454 q-jet, Sm465, 205, d60/14b.
It was originally bought by the GSA and used up on base at Ft. Carson. My customer said the paint was redone on base shortly before it went up for auction. He bought it from the auction over 20 years ago . The truck other than having the camper and a period correct Pioneer twin knob stereo is completely unmolested. I mean the interior is mint. Other than grim the engine compartment is a perfect example of a factory big block setup.
So am I way off base? High or low? What's the collective thoughts here?
