A used Banks turbo setup for the 6.2's popped up for sale about 30 minutes away from me. I have not looked at it yet but advertised as complete and good shape.....take that for what it's worth.....but if this description is accurate what is a fair price?

The next step is checking it out. Any pointers on specific items that should be checked out. I will need to find out what originally came in the Banks kit and make sure it is all there (don't want to get stuck with that one missing piece that is hard to come by and expensive).

You can download the manual HERE - it has the entire parts list with diagrams. You can also buy most of the single replacement parts thru Summit if needed.

Make sure it has the following parts which are commonly missing:
-intact pyro sensor/wiring as well as pyro and boost gauges
-exhaust components (especially the downpipe and crossover pipes)
-turbo oil return and fuel pump adapter plate
-lower radiator hose

Take a dial indicator and check the turbo unit for bearing play. There should be almost zero front-to-rear play (up to ~.003" is acceptable) on the spool, but side play is OK as long as the compressor blades aren't touching the housing (can run from .010"-.020" total typical side play).

If it's truly ALL there and in good condition, then $700-$800 is reasonable...but I've never once seen a used setup for sale that wasn't missing a few pieces or need some replaced due to wear...so figure $500 average.

I was thinking $600 if everything was there and in decent shape so we are on the same page. He started out asking $1,200 and now down to $1,000 in his ad. Debating on whether to go ahead and contact him with an offer or take my chances and wait a little longer and see if he drops the price down another step first. Fortunately I don't believe there is a big market for 6.2 turbos in the $1,000 range.

The kit was still on Craigslist but he hadn't lowered the price again, which I waiting on to make my move. Finally sent him a text and it is still for sale so plan on taking a look at it this week. Going on 2 months so hopefully he will deal.

I would try for 400 if he hasn't sold. 20 20$ bills sure looks like alot of money

I paid $800. For mine but it came with a 6.2, turbo 400 and a 205.
I would get some friends to start offering 3-400 and if he bites he bites, you could always make a higher offer like 500 and it might look good then.
