What's the baddest STOCK horn you've ever heard?

I got to thinking about the sad condition of my stock horn in my Nissan Xterra. It sounds pitiful. Though I don't know what it SHOULD sound like, I'm sure the flood didn't help any. So, I don't want to go to a junk yard and get another Xterra horn just to find out it's weak as well. If I gotta replace it, why not go with something different. So now I'm wondering, what's the best sounding horn you can remember hearing in a stock application? Some common truck/car have an authoritative tone that I can acquire? Anyone ever had a horn that really made them feel good when they laid it on? I'd prefer to feel accomplished when I let someone have it, rather than embarrassed.

Caddies eh? Never heard one, just might have to go browsing for a caddy horn soon.

I don't know about that.. my '84 has the gheyest little beep I've ever heard. Think I need to find a '91 horn.. the one in the Sub is pretty good.

I really want an airhorn but I got other priorities right now :D

Yeah, Big Ugly's horn...which is now getting problematic...isn't exactly...in keeping with the rest of the truck. Kinda sad sounding actually. Not a Japanese car's meep meep but definitely not worthy of a 1 ton 4x4 diesel on 38's.

I like the stock horns in the 88-98 fullsize GM's. Well, I haven't really heard any since the mid-90s model years but I doubt they changed the tone during that body style.
I've also had people recommend 70's era Cadillacs.

I might go visit the local rip off yard and see what they want for the horns.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Sounds like I'm looking for the GM "boats".

I'm thinking late 80's was the year of the Park Avenue she had......like this beauty :D

Heck, I bet the Olds 98 used that style horn too.

Does your horn currently have a relay running it?
Mine? Yes, it does. It's a completely stock setup on a 2000 Xterra. It's been flooded though. Nissans start out with whimpy horns, don't think water damage helps them at all. I checked the connections and voltage and all, no problem with the wiring. Just needs a bigger sound. :p:

My buddy's brand new Dodge pickup has a mean sounding horn.

He's saving up to buy a train horn though. We could have hours of fun driving around scaring people with that thing.

A stock horn in an M-35 wins as far as I'm concerned. Maybe not the loudest, but the shrill sound makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck every time I hear one...
