Its about time to finally get rid of the parts jimmy which is just a frame and some crazy rusted body pannels. I do not have the title for the jimmy anymore so best way to scrap it is to bring it in in pieces. Whats the best way to do this. Torch, sawzall, etc....

Torch or plasma cutter would be my choice. Sawzall would be a close third.

Ding ding, or maybe a combination of them.

What year is the Jimmy? Does it have a big grommet about 2" around or so on the passenger side firewall just above the valve cover? If so keep that please, I need one and I can't find a grommet that big anywhere that will fit into the curved surface.

I took a 78 scoutII and a 77 wagoneer apart with a firemans axe and a sledge hammer once. It was faster than you think, a great workout, and FUN AS H#LL:D We hit a few spots with the torch and the pillars with a sawzall. the rest was the axe n hammer

89 Can you get a pic of the area so I can check.

I was just thinking about the double panels and how its a pain to go through on one side then have to hit the other with the torch.

It's the grommet directly to the left of the tranny dipstick handle in this pic...it is usually for the ECM that controls the distributor, etc.

Pretty sure thats on my rig now... since I used the TBI and ECM from the jimmy.

Ahh, makes sense, we tried... Mine didn't have TBI, it was just an electonic distributor, but it's probably the same on yours anyway. I actually want to use one for the other side now too where I have the harness for the FAST system.

Good luck with hacking up the rusty tub

Will the scrap yards not take it away without a title? I used to haul away scrap cars and alot of them did not have a title come with them. I just filled out a piece of paper when I turned them in and all was good. There were a couple without VINs or unreadable tags and they were listed on that paper as 'unreadable'. This was in the state of Mass though, not sure how Mich does things.

With the price of scrap metal so high I'm sure someone would take it away as a whole and still hand over some cash. May not be as much as a whole car but at least you wouldn't have to cut it up and deal with it.

I have a bunch of scrap to take in so its just more to add to it. I'm keeping the axles cuz my dad plans on keeping his k5 1/2 ton for awhile. And I know he will break something eventually.

Once again, the standard K5 comment is missing.

I guess its up to the Ford guy to come through......

Whats the best/ fastest way to chop up a vehicle?

C4!!!!

Jess, I did have to have title to a chopped up truck I took in once, might be a state law, but not sure what part of the vehicle requires the title be present, maybe the dash vin#????

How is the rear floor sections?

First a grommet, now floor sections.........Have you ever thought about just taking some good pictures of it and posting them here?

By the time these vultures, people in need of parts, get through, you may not need to haul anything off........

ummm what rear floor? When I picked this thing up from lawrence(metrodps) and basically fell through the floor when I stepped in. There is 1/4" plate bolted to the trans tunnel holding the seat. :haha::haha:
