Just as it says. I have my 2003 2500hd with a 6.0 and a almost new trans 4x4. The truck body is falling apart day by day lol. I was wondering what it has cost most of you who have done this or a similar swap.

I was quoted in southern california for the complete turn key at around $5200. That is with them sourcing the engine, harness, mounts, spacers, fuel pump, lines and tuning. With you already having all of that stuff minus the motor mounts and few other things probably much less.

With a full donor truck it can be as cheap as some conversion mounts and hooking your exhaust up to the manifolds plus having the security flashed out of the computer.

Even less if you want to fab mounts, but for the price its really not worth the hassle.

The more you do the more it costs. Want headers? Expect to pay $180ish if block hugger shorties are enough for you or up to $350 for conversion long tubes designed for the motor in your chassis. The harness can be stripped at home with a little work and know how or you can pay $400 to have it done.

The possible costs or reuse of stuff from the donor vehicle is endless. Thats without even getting the itch to upgrade stuff along the way.

I'm putting a 6.0 in my 80 k5...
if you have the engine already, and the ECM, and everything to pull from the donor truck - that will save you about $3g.
I would set aside another $2g to complete the swap. Your costs will include swapping a fuel pump, wiring for the electric fuel pump in the tank or in line, engine mounts, engine cross member modifications, transmission or transfer case adapters, and exhaust system.

i've got a thread in my sig, i'm doing a 6.0 swap, but mine is a high dollar swap. lots of expensive parts. and paint.

Ya I currently have the 2003 truck I drive it everyday. It's just the body is starting to fall apart and I don't wanna put money into it :weld::grind: . I would rather put the drivetrain in my k5.

If you have the motor, i'd guess you could do it for $1000 or less.

May be more if you want A/C

Is it just me, or did everyone miss the question here?

The OP HAS the motor already.

So, cost is probably $1000-1500.

Also, if you have the donor, swap the trans too. Will make your life easier.

The link I posted has a price for getting the harness modified...

Factor in motor/trans mounts, the spacer for the flywheel, harness modification exhaust, driveshaft work, fuel line and pump mods and misc expenses and $1000-1500 is not realistic. I think $2000-3000 is a more realistic ballpark all in running and driving.

I'm all for voting on the high side. Hate to see people cut corners with this swap.

I have to agree to an extent. You might get away with $1000 if you have a donor and its going in a vehicle that was already plumbed for EFI. Theres really no getting around having the computer reflashed.

And as I said earlier, its doubtful you wont get the "eh why not" bug when it comes to upgrading, replacing, changing, etc.
