whats the deal with vin #\'s

To my understanding, K5 is just the model of blazer and K10 is the vehicle rating /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Far as I know so far as Vin numbers are concerend. Blazers have always been K10s (eariler modles) or V10s.(later models) K5 was just a Model designation kind of like the Camaro RS, SS ect.
But the K5 kinda stuck to all the Blazers/Jimmys and sounds cool /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif So most referr to them as K5s

off subject but I once obtained a 77 suburban, was told it was a 73 but after looking at vin, 77 is what is was, anyhow this thing was out of the dmv computer for like 10 years so when I got the paperwork to obtain a title I put 73 not knowing it was a 77 until after the fact /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif they gave me a title that said 73, being illegal to do things like that I would never do that intentionally /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif but something to think about dmv doesn't have vin # breakdowns /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
