what's the going rate for a used sm465/205 combo?

Re: what\'s the going rate for a used sm465/205 combo?

"First design" front axle tubes are 2 3/4" diameter.
"Second design" front axle tubes are 3" diameter.

D60's don't match either of the above. They are 3 1/4" diameter.

Ok, now if the said front axle has International locking hubs on it, does that make it a 1st gen axle?

Re: what\'s the going rate for a used sm465/205 combo?

Only if its the external locking hub.

International hubs are identical to the Warn external hubs. I don't know the full story on why the Int. name is stamped on the Warn hubs, but I believe that was part of a deal that Int. had Warn hubs installed at the factory, so Warn stamped "International" on that line of hubs.

I have never seen International stamped on any internal lock out hubs though.

What's the diff. between internal and external hubs? I haven't figured it out yet. Would you trade him straight up for it? Does it sound like a deal. I looked at the axles, but I don't know what condition they are in internally.

3/4 Ton would be a step up regardless of first or second gen front 44. the internal hubs are a stronger design but i wouldn't worry about it unless breakage becomes an issue for you. you will be getting bigger brakes up front and 4.10 will probably be a step up for you too. you could always swap out to internal hubs later or look for the ever elusive dana 60 /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: what\'s the going rate for a used sm465/205 combo?

Well, I still don't know the diff. between internal and external hubs, so I'm clueless on that matter. I've got a light foot when it comes to off-road'n, so hopefully won't be a problem. I will be running a 39.5" TSL though. I've been running 4.56's with a 35" in a second set of 10 bolts I have, but had to go back to 3.42's in my stock axle when the carrier bearings went out in the rear. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! I'm just worried that 4.10's won't be enough gear for the tire. My setup will be a 465/205, behind a stock 350.

I paid $300 for my 465/205 combo w/out bellhousing. And dammit, Wes, I had to pay all of $550 for my front D60 w/4.56s! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
