what's the heatsink under the steering column?

what\'s the heatsink under the steering column?

i cant figure it out, it's a small box that has plugs on both sides and is mounted to the column (just slides on). it has connectors on both sides, i was thinking it may be for the cruise control, but i dont know.

That could be the DRAC if you're running an electronic speedo (no cable) like with a 4L80E trans.
