Whats the largest tire you can run WITHOUT a lift?

i have 33x12.50's on my stock jimmy, however they rub like a mofo on the steering arm, ripped the bushings out of it to. thats on a stock rim as well. but i really didnt care, 6 inch lift is in the mail :P

there's a pic on here somewhere of a k5 with 44s and 1 inch body lift.
Can we see a pic?

I ran with a 4" lift 35's that actually measured 35 with rubbing till trimmed. Done enough trimming that i could fit 38 ground hogs that were laying around. know of one person around here (not k5) that ran 35's with no lift but more trimming than i cared to do.

i wish i'd saved the pic. :doah:

but yeah it looked funny alright. i beleive they were boggers too. i think he had 1 tons and proper gears.

all he said was no lift. so everything else is game.

that means: removing the fenders, and move the cab back. you could run 53s if you used unimog axles. i wonder if portal axles count as lift to this guy. :haha: oh great, now that's what i wanna do. curse my "brain-building" of trucks. plans are always changing!

Why did they rub the steering arm? I'm about to go mount my 33's on my stock rims... I surely hope they don't rub anything other than the fenders (which I will have fun hacking :p: )
thanks,
james

I run 35's with no lift on my 87 K5. The front I had to trim only 3/4" from the back of the front wheel well. It is not even noticable that I trimmed unless you look hard. I don't run it that hard, and have not had anything break (yet). Gas mileage went down, but meh....

I like the 35's, I like the way they look. The are on factory alloy rims (7" wide), on factory 10 bolts. I'll probably do a 1" zero rate in the future, but otherwise I like the way that it looks.

and 35's allowed me to climb an 18" block where 31's wouldn't, so I'm happy with the increased diameter.

if i remember correctly, i saw on here about a year ago a guy that fit 38.5s with no lift, and TONS of cuttin but i guess he did it.!

i say at least 49'S irok they just need like 3 inch lift!!!!!!!! delete thread please

my stock untouched 77 k-10 has 33 x 12.50's on it and they rub the back bottom of the fender opening pretty good,

cutting them tomorrow hopefully

good luck

I'd like to see that tire fitment guide updated and/or clarified.

I've run both 32x11.5's and 33x10.5R15's on completely stock trucks and neither have rubbed, and I know there are quite a few others here that have as well.

I understand it's a guide, and the disclaimer is there about different vehicles, but the data is now about 7 years old.

I dunno, just me. I'd like to see something saying that certain combinations, mainly stock with 32's and 33's of the right size will more than likely fit. It would keep from having to repeat data more often. I'm sure there is other data that folks can add to that about the even larger sizes and what has been made to work.

More of a "what tires can be made to fit, and how" article?
