Saw an ad on CL this morning--a guy is parting out a 1992 K5,and wll sell the 700R4 and T-case for 100 bucks,if "you pull it"....The price is right,but I'm not sure if a 1992 HAS a 700R4,I thought a 4L60E or 4L80E would be in a truck built in 1992??...
I need a 700R4 for my diesel '85 Suburban,and 100 bucks is about all I can spend on it..but I dont want to buy a tranny I cant use--bad enough this one is from a gas engined truck and I'll probably have to use my old converter & govenor,it also needs to have a TV cable,not an electrically controlled one..
Chances are even if this tranny would work,I wont be able to get it--I have to have cataract sugery this thursday,so I dont feel much like crawling under a truck for the next two days,I have to prep for the surgery with eye drops the next two days...certainly dont want dirt in my eyes --it might even be sold already,being that cheap too--but I'd like to know the years I can use anyway,in case I run across any others...
FIGURES it would show up THIS week,in a town 10 miles away from mine!..
