What would be the penalty if I was caught driving my truck in a place my truck isn't supposed to be? I live in CA anyone been caught in a illegal area?

You're not providing enough info. Could be anywhere or anything.

Say if I'm caught by a cop in an dirt/mud area that isnt a designated four wheel drive park, what would I get hit with?

I'm in the Bay Area and I'm tired of being told to go to hollister, theres a place called buzzards lagoon I've been hearing about and its way closer to my house but its illegal to wheel there. So I'm basically asking what would be the penalty if I was caught there?

Got it. Refer to above.

I see, but nothing I'll be arrested for right?
Probably not, but keep in mind if you run into a d!ck, they can arrest you, but most likely wouldnt. Now of course if the area you are talking about is a military base or in some other way protected, the penalties and fines may go up as well as the likelyhood of you going to jail. Best bet is to find somewhere to go legally. Less pain to your wallet and everything else!

Theirs some cool utility access roads up in the LG hills that can get pretty fun real quick. Not sure how legal that is though so i've only gone once. I also live in Hollister sometimes and of course the wheelin up their is pretty awesome.

I got stuck one night in a dirt lot near Candlestick park, playing in the mud and dropped a wheel into an opening of a culvert. While trying to free myself a local PD showed up and after taking my license info he asked if he should call me a tow truck. I said sure and asked him if I was in trouble or going to get a ticket. He said nope, since I was on private property if the owner of the property wanted to press charges for trespassing or property damage then I'd hear from them. But he said if I was on public property I'd be sitting in the back of his car by now.

The worst penalty will be the crap you get from the rest of this community for being a bonehead. Don't wheel on restricted land, period.

If it is habitat. You could be forced to pay for fixing it. At government cost. We would all appreciate it if you wheeled legally.

it happens

old ski hill and over grown land -so i drove over the log and did some 4 wheelin-when i was leaving an officer was waiting at my exit he was polite about it but proceeded to arrest and tow when i suggested that he needed the property owners complaint to proceed he stated no.nice guy he was gonna post my bail until i remebered my emergecy gas money in the truck-he called the tow co. and they brought it down-all tolled,2 hours from arrest to back in my vehicle,35 bail 80 tow 100 fine paid in court next day .... lesson learned
