How in the world do you pull the carrier out of a 14bolt? I've done two now and each time I have to destroy the races and bearings? Whats the secret?

What Matt said. He helped me take mine out awhile back. I adjusted the collars out into the axle tubes and the carrier didn't come out. I gave it a little tug and the ring gear and carrier almost fell on my face.

Yeah I wanted to take my carrier out one day and was stumped. Logged on here and in 1 1/2 min I knew exactly waht to do. It was so easy. :D I think every rear end should be so easy

Thanks, I'm an idiot. I just spent 3 hours on a cold wet night trying to remove that carrier. Like I said this was my second one. Maybe I should just use the adjusters from now on. On a different note I did finish the disk brake swap tonight.

I think most of us have been there. I know I did it when I pulled apart my first 14 bolt.

Key word first. This was my second. I was standing out in the shop cursing and bleeding, trying to pry that carrier out. When I first started I told the guys helping that I should just come in and look on CK5. Instead I beat and banged untill I destroyed the races and bearings. Man I feel stupid.
