what's their rep?

Paul,

You'll probably get responses that are all over the map on them.

They were great for many years, then something happened and there were all sorts of problems with orders, quality, etc..... then it seems like they have maybe turned it around again.

Rumors were either the owner died, or the company was sold and mismanaged.... something like that, I can't recall the specifics.

I can tell you that I ordered my custom 17" wheel hoop about a year ago and the guy that I spoke with was really helpful. He even went out into the warehouse to snap a few cellphone pics of the actual wheel to show me dimensions, etc.

That order arrived as expected, and matched my application the way I was hoping.

About 2 weeks ago, I called back to order up the remaining 4 hoops I needed and they found my original order, matched up the part number and shipped them out.... no drama, no issues.

The only complaint (if I'm being picky) is that I didn't get an email confirmation of the invoice or UPS tracking number. But a hardcopy of the invoice was in the boxes that arrived, and I'm signed up with UPS to be notified automatically for any shipments that are headed my way.....so I got the tracking #'s that way.

Based on my own recent experience, I'd say it's worth the risk... but for custom work, be sure to put all of the specs in writing so that it's clear EXACTLY what you want them to do. :deal:

They went through an owner change and in the process had a few transition issues that I only read about online. Couple friends of mine have bought wheels through them with no issues.

They're located about an hour from me as well.

yeah, this a first time for me dealing with a custom rim..

what I'm looking for is someone who can duplicate an existing custom rim.. basically a widened dually rim..... send em one and have em make 4 copies...

same thing dimensionally but do it with their robotic welders, decent runout, etc... soup to nuts.. but your right Dave, I really don't care much about finish... raw steel or satin black powedercoat.....

i'll take a peak at uswheel...

who was it that had that set of stockers widened out? the ones with caps? iirc, it was a blue rig iirc...

I had Stockton make me a set not long ago. communication was dismal, and they took a little longer than the estimate I was told, but all in all, I'd probably use them again.

thanks.. how was the quality? :ears:

I would have thought a 1/2 dozen places would be available.. more google-fu... I understand most manny-ing is china these days, but................

Wheel Vintiques has a good reputation. Summit Racing carries their stuff and custom orders can be had through them as well.

the quality is good. I had them powder coated satin black and they came out just like I hoped. the welds were mediocre, no bad looking, but not 'pretty' either. they were packaged very well and survived shipping without issue.

downside was one of them got damaged at the powdercoaters, and they did not let me know, so when I got four wheels instead of the five, I gave it a few days thinking the last one would show up. only when I called them did they tell me they had to make and powder coat another, about two more weeks..

what about Tru Design Wheels in Denver?
