What\'s wrong with my tire?! POS!

I just took my truck on the highway for the first time since I dropped the 14 bolt in and the right rear tires still wobbles like it's unbalanced. The other thing is, none of the tires are balanced, but I don't have a problem with the others. Could there be something wrong with the tire? All but one of the tires wobbled with the 15x10's, so I figured it was just the rim. Even with new rims, that one tire wobbles. It's really starting to piss me off, because I can't drive it at 60 without the whole thing shaking!

What tires are these? My dad just got 38x15 bias TSLs and it shook bad. He tried to balance them but it was actually worse. Take it to a 4WD shop and see what they can do.

Big tires are hard to balance in a conventional manner. To get them right you need to use a balance patch glued to the inside of the tire. to save me a bunch of typing go to this web site for a full explaination:http://www.intercotire.com/suggestions_for_mounting_and_bal.htm
You need to go to a tire shop that specialises in oversize tires to get this done.

just curious, why would you put tires on a rig that aren't balanced? am i missing something here?

Welcome to the world of running BIG Bias Tires. Get them balance I've had the best luck with 39.5 with tire companies that balance truck and tractor tires... And sometime you just get one out of round....

When I worked in a tire shop, they would tell me that within .5 an ounce on a truck tire is good. One day, I brought my truck in (33 BFG MTs on 15x8s with one wheel bent) and took about an hour to balance all five until each and every one zeroed out. Yes, I have some places where there's about 5 ounces but sure did help the ride.

None of my BFG Muds took more than 3 or 4 ounces.

Are you sure it's one of your tires ? Which one is it ? Could it be one of your front axle shafts ? I've got some info for you maybe, but I need more info from you.

Re: What\'s wrong with my tire?! POS!

I'm running 16/38.5-15 TSL's. All the tire shops here in Wichita said they can't balance them, but they can mount them. The only one that's giving me hell is the right rear. This same tire shook really bad on the junk 15x10's and I thought it might be the crappy wheels. Well, I have brand new wheels and still have the same problem with this one tire. It even did it on the 1/2 ton rear, now I'm running the 14FF.

OK, if it's the same tire doing the same thing on a different wheel, on a different axle, then the problem is definitely the tire. As stated before, sometimes you get one out-of-round.
Something you could try is to use a tread depth gauge and measure the tread depth all the way around the tire. Hold the gauge the same way for each measurement, place it on the lugs the same way each time, and have an assistant write down the measurements. Or maybe you could cobble up a super-sized runout gauge, jack up that wheel, and spin it by hand and see if maybe the tire really is out-of-round. In any case, call whoever you bought the tires from and see if they'll replace it for you.

What i would do is just swap the rear tire with one on the front... if the problem then moves with the tire then you know what it causing it.. if it still stays in the back then you got other problems...

Re: What\'s wrong with my tire?! POS!

As stated before, if you move the tires around on the vehicle and it changes each time you move them, then it is a tire (or tires), but if it stays the same (say left rear), then I would say your bearings are shot, not torqued properly, or you have a bad drum (which has been known to happen).

If you didn't build it yourself, how can you call it yours.......?
