Wheel Back Spacing

Educate me...please

3.5 inch backspace makes the rim stick out more than 4.5 inch back spacing or th eother way around?

3.5" BS will make the tires stick out more. its the measurement from the lip of the rim to the mounting surface

Perfect! That is what I thought, but then I talked myself out of it and well...me and thinking don't always get along so good...

here's mine: these are 15x10 wheels with 2.5in of backspacing with a 39.5x18 bogger.
you can see how far it makes the wheel stick out compared to what your's or mine look like right now.

2.5..no for me, but 3.5 is perfect!
