I just bought a set of procomp 16x8's with a 4" backspacing. with 315/75/16 BFG All terrain KO's. I am hoping when they get here to install that they are not going to hit on the tie rod ends. What is the maximum allowed offset and backspacing to where there is no problems once so ever.

what axle ? makes some difference.

I have dana 60 front and ran some hummer h2 stock sheels in 17" and 5 or 5.5 b/s no problems.

then seen a set of 16x7 on a 6 lug half ton hit tie rod ends bad .

its a 1988 gmc jimmy sierra classic. In its former glory i looked up the VIN and it came back as a Military vehicle. So i am thinking its a dana up front but not sure. what would be a way to tell for sure if it is or not? I bought the truck 4 years ago and it has 4.11 gears front and rear with detroit lockers up front and push button auborns in the rear.

I am trying to see what offset i actually bought. should have done a little more research about what is allowable and what isnt, but i jumped the gun lol. So im crossing my fingers they go on easily. it has 15x10 w/ 36/12.50 Super Swampers on there now. No hitting issues but i dont know what the offset or backspacing are on the rims. They are about 1/2" away from tie rod ends though. so i figure4d the 16x8's would bring the circumference of the wheel up an 1" to pass them if need be. But im not too sure they will lol.

Can you explain to me how to accurately tell if it is a dana front axle? Or what type of wheel offset and backspacing i have on there now to cross reference with the wheels i just purchased?

16x8, 6 on 5.5 Bolt Pattern
Backspace = 4 in.
Max Load = 2200lbs
Finish = Polished
Hub Centric = No
Offset = -11mm

thats what i just bought Pro Comps.

well i just went to try and measure the wheels i have on there now...and...its a little tricky to tell while they are on the truck and the tire is on there lol. So my best guess eyeing the tape measure...From the inside of the wheel to where the lugs are looked to be a 4" backspace. but the offset i dont know how to find. But as of now they sit about 1/2" away from the tie rod ends on either side. And the wheels are 15x10's so im thinking the new rims being 16x8's will help bring the wheels away from the tie rods hopefully a couple inches.

Ok after viewing my axles and cross referencing them to the link above I do have the corporate 10 bolts front and rear it looks like.

So what options do I have if my new rims I bought hit the tie rod ends? Will I have to send them back on freight to the company to get different offset wheels? Or is there more options I can do.

I wouldn't think to hard yet

these old trucks have lots of room . and most rims these days are running close to neutral off set .

Well I'm offshore and they just got in. My dad sent me pictures and from the looks of it. They look like they will sit further inside towards the tie rod than mine that are on there. Got me all worried.
