I am getting close to ordering some new wheels for my 85 K10. Most likely MT classic 2's in 15x8. I had a question about backspacing..What is the backspacing on the stock wheels on these trucks? Is it 4"? These Mickey Thompsons have 3.5 to 3.75 inch backspacing, will it work alright? It has some ugly 15x8 aluminums on it now, and I have no idea what the backspacing on them is. Btw its riding on a 2 inch lift with 31's. Thanks.

save your self some money on rims and look at the off brands like eagle wheels same basic styles and still made in china like all the rest sofar. i mount and balence wheels/tires alot at work and see lots of crap in name brand boxes these days.

oh ya and most people b!tch 6 months later that the finish goes to crap on the m/t wheels.

3.5-4" back space will be o.k.

the less the backspace the more it will stick out the body.
the more the backspace the less it will stick out the body and be sucked in the the fender .

So the M/T's arent worth the extra money huh.. I'll look into the Eagles, what about Pro Comps wheels? Thanks

Ok cool, 1 last question..I found some that look just like the classic 2's on the eagle website u just posted, the only problem is the 15x8's have 3.25 backspacing. Is that too little?

the eagles we have installed a lot of them and run them on nissans/toyotas/chevys all with no problems in 15x8 or 15x10 width.

oh ya and the guys seem to like the finish hold up on these better than the m/t stuff.

My wife has some 15x12 Eagles on her Jeep and they have gotten scratched up pretty bad from her never washing the brake dust off them, so you'll need to wash them every couple of weeks to avoid them looking like crap. I think what happened to hers was that someone may have tried to polish them with the polishing compound that's meant for chrome plated wheels (which are much harder than aluminum) and this scratched the wheels, so then all the brake rotor dust was able to get down in the scratches and make them worse. Just something to think about.

I run 3.75" backspacing on my 15X10s and I wouldn't mind having a little less, like 3.25", maybe. Some guys have ran 2.5" backspacing before, but the wheels were sticking out so bad that they would actually hit the fenders and body even worse than if they had used wheels with too little backspacing. It's all according to the width of your wheel and what size tire you have, whether you're running inner fenders, your lift height and fender clearance, etc.

Also remember that the wider stance you get from more offset wheels could mess up your scrub radius and turning radius and all that.

I think the backspacing for the stock wheels on my '85 was more than 4", like 4.5", maybe (?) I just sold them at the beginning of the year, or I would measure them.

You were saying that you don't know what backspacing you have on your current wheels. You know how to check it, right? It's easier if you don't have a tire on the wheel. Just lay the wheel face down on the ground and place a board or ruler over the outside edge of the rim (this will be the back of the wheel). Now get a tape measure and measure the distance between the bottom of the board and the back of the mounting flange (where the wheel mounts the hub). This will be your backspacing. You can do it with a tire on the wheel, but you'll have to eyeball it and it won't be as accurate. It will get you close though.

If you already knew this, just ignore me. I'm trying to get my post count up anyway.:D
